This is where we can list things which need to be done (and track who is meant to be doing them?) Invite people to become site editorsWe need people to register as users of this web site so that they can edit and add to the web site content. No special technical skills required for this role. sbridewell 11 feb: I've sent the web site address to the swindon-climate Yahoo group, inviting people to register via the link on the right-hand side of the page. Their registration request needs to be approved by an administrator (that's me at the moment), then they can edit all the pages on the site, add new pages, post comments, etc. So far two people have signed up and I've approved their registration requests. Go ahead and play with the site guys.... sbridewell 12 feb 20:25:31: Another two have signed up today. Tomorrow it's Monday so there should be some more people who get their e-mail at work picking up the invitation to register. sbridewell 15 feb: We have 5 regular users and two administrators now. Not many contrubutions yet though. sbridewell 22 feb: We have eight regular users now. Recruit site administratorsIn addition to registered users who can edit and update the web site, we need two or three site administrators. This role is more suited to people with an understanding of the way web sites work, and involves approving newly registered users (so that we don't get people using our web site to sell Viagra!), and looking after site settings and security policies. To become an administrator, you first need to be a registered user, then you need to ask an existing administrator to make you an administrator. sbridewell 11 feb: As of 21:45 we have one administrator (me) and two other registered users. I'm hoping to hear from people who want to be administrators, as I'd rather not be the only one.
sbridewell 15 feb: Ruth is an administrator as well now - welcome, Ruth! Look and feel of web siteThe colour scheme, fonts and layout of the web site can be controlled by picking one of sixteen pre-defined skins, and can also be customised using CSS (colours, fonts and sizes) and XSL (layout). For the moment, we're using the green-looking skin, with a slight tweak to the colour of headings, but if anyone's feeling artistic and knows (or is willing to learn) CSS then we could benefit from our own colour scheme. If you want to get involved with this web site in this way, you'll need to be an administrator - contact Simon to arrange this. sbridewell 24 feb: I've tweaked the style sheets a bit more - increased contrast (black text on green instead of green on green) and also increased the font size of the tools menu. I've had a tentative play with the XSL as well, hence the new edit / comment / attach links appearing below the title of each page (but they only show up for people who can actually do those actions - isn't it clever?)
